Hibiscus Simple Syrup

A delicious simple syrup to add color and floral notes to any drink or cocktail. Much like Grenadine, this will enhance your drink and it's delightful.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 hibiscus tea bags
  • peel of 1 lemon or lime

Instructions

  1. In a small sauce pan, combine all the ingredients and bring to a boil over medium heat. Stir frequently to dissolve the sugar. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.

    Note: If you want stronger flavor or deeper color, add another tea bag.

  2. Turn heat off and allow to cool. Remove tea bags and lemon peel. Transfer to storage container. Yields a little over a cup and keeps well up to two weeks.
