Sweet Dark Cherry Sauce

The perfect sauce for a black forest cake or over ice cream. If you love cherries, you'll love this sauce.

  • 1 12 ounce sweet cherries, frozen
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons water
  • ½-¾ cup cherry preserve
  • optional: cherry liqueur
  • 2 Tablespoons cornstarch


  1. Mix all the ingredients in a sauce pan over medium heat and simmer until thick and bubbly. Stir frequently as not to burn the sauce.

  2. Remove from heat and allow to cool before serving.
