This year I wanted to create an elegant cinco de mayo tablescape inspired by muted tones, dessert vibes and my tiny collection of succulent plants in terra cotta pots. I love how serene it makes me feel while still festive. Pour me a Paloma!
HERE’S HOW I STYLED IT
I was inspired by these Tommy Bahama napkins I came across at HomeGoods a few weeks ago. I love the colors and the flexibility in creating different tablescapes. I love the pattern and colors so much, I also bought two tablecloths – a round and rectangle. Stay tuned, they will reappear in future tablescapes.
In addition to the beautiful napkins, my succulents are just adorable and they were the perfect quantity and size to create a dessert garden oasis as my centerpiece. The terra cotta pots have also aged over time, giving them that lovely patina we’re looking for.
I started with my linen sage tablecloth as a neutral back drop. It’s just enough color without overpowering the table. A hyacinth woven placemat provides texture and is the perfect natural element to compliment the succulents. These neutral cream plates are just gorgeous – I love their color and design. They are so versatile. I paired them with my gold bamboo flatware for an elegant touch. They look as beautiful as they day I bought them and are an exceptional quality at a great price. Gold candlesticks, to match the flatware, are tucked away in the center of the succulents with two terra cotta candles.
Continuing with the succulent theme, succulent napkin rings secure the napkins and allowing the fringe to cascade over the plate. Finally, I brought out my Mexican glassware – tall wine glasses and short brandy glasses. Don’t you love the striking green rim? I’m a sucker for green every time.
This tablescape is gorgeous! It is simple and festive with an adult contemporary style. Although cinco de mayo is known for it’s vivid reds, greens and gold, this tablescape offers a different esthetic that still captures those festive vibes, but with natural, desert tones. I just love it!
I hope you find inspiration in this tablescape to create something spectacular for your next cinco de mayo or party. Check out my Succulent cinco de mayo post to see what I served for dinner! Salud amigos!
