A few years back, when Pier 1 Imports still had a brick and mortar store, I purchased a gorgeous table runner among other thing. Recently I watched the movie Something’s Gotta Give and the gorgeous Nancy Meyers iconic living room area rug reminded me of my table runner. It got my creative juices going and I was able to pull together this beautiful tablescape.
While the idea was to style the table poolside, the constant tropical storms and excessive heat forced me to come indoors. No regrets!
HERE’S HOW I STYLED IT
I set the table runner across the glass dining room table, so you could see the jute area rug below. I love how the natural elements of the jute rug add richness and texture. This white ceramic vase looks like a big shell and it a few coastal floral springs from Michael’s make the perfect centerpiece.
Because I didn’t have a tablecloth, I set a beautiful embroidered seashell placemat and layered it with a white charger, a plain white plate and a coral reef melamine salad plate. The coral napkins add a wonderful pop of color and tie the lobster on the table runner and the salad plates for a cohesive look.
These beaded blue crabs are so adorable and just scream New England! I love this table runner so much I bought two of them. The lobster is embroidered and outlined with gold beads adding a little elegance to this casual setting.
A few cobalt blue fish votive candles add the perfect touch to this coastl/nautical/beach tablescape. What do you think of this prosecco bottle I decorated? I’m getting hooked on decorating bottles! I looked for blue crabs or lobsters, but I didn’t find any so I used a seahorse napkin with coral reef to match the lobster, plates and napkins. If you’re interested in learning how to decorate these bottles, have a tutorial reel on my Instagram page.
I finished by scattering seashells on the table runner while leaving room for any platters. I always like to leave room for the food since most of my dinner parties are family style. I hope you enjoyed this tablescape and it inspires you to create your own Hamptons’ Coastal table.
