Inspired by this little blue crab and the wonderful memories of New England, this vibrant tablescape captures the spirit and American colors of New England. All I need is a my Crab Cakes & Tomato Corn Salad on one of these beautiful coral plates. This tablescape is not as casual as my other coastal tablescapes, but it could go either way.
HERE’S HOW I STYLED IT
Since my dining table is glass, I set a crisp white tablecloth. I loosely layered a white gauze table runner down the center, imitating the ocean foam of crashing waves. I centered a DIY floral arrangement I made in a seashell vase from HomeGoods, and flanked it with white candles in clear glass candleholders and scattered seashells and sea stars for a simple tablescape.
The plates, crab, napkins, beaded napkin rings and crab dip bowls were all a Pier 1 Imports going-out-of-business sale – what a shopping win! I love the different hues of ocean blues with the pop of red coral. They are designed to be a perfect match, and you can’t beat that!
The floral DIY was so easy, it’s not worth creating a post. I purchased five spiked mums on clearance at a craft store and spray painted them red. I added three small floral pics that look like our local sea grape and that was it. It was a quick and easy centerpiece to pull together the pops of red throughout the table.
This DIY Decorated Bottle is coming to the blog soon, but I do have a reel in my instagram and Pinterest accounts. It was a lot of fun to create and it’s amazing what one can do with a little Mod Podge and a few paper napkin. The stunning ruby red wine goblets just pop and elevate an otherwise casual table setting. You can set this for an upscale brunch or dinner.
Do you see the two aluminum crab dip bowls? They are too cute and make the perfect addition to this table setting since it’s from Pier 1 Imports. You can add cheese, dip, sauce, fruit, nuts or anything else. I love to add small themed bowls to my tables for that little detail and sometimes whimsy touch.
If you follow me, you know I’m also all about keeping it simple with vintage and timeless pieces while leaving space for platters and bowls to serve family style, so my tables are never overcrowded. Unless of course it’s a holiday family gathering for 40 and there’s a hot food station, then all bets are off and I’m adding more than usual. It doesn’t matter if you are a minimalist or maximalist, a beautiful table is always enjoyed by all and this one is no exception. I hope you’re inspired and I would love to read your comments below.
