For my final tablescape in this year’s series, I went for a family tablescape kids of all ages could enjoy. This tablescape has a little something for everyone – I love the Mid-Century Modern vibes with the cute whimsical decor. For those that love scary and spooky – I added a few skulls to the bar cart and china cabinet. This tablescape is just plain fun!
HOW I STYLED IT
Taking inspiration from these adorable plates from Eli+Ana I purchased at HomeGoods, this tablescape came together rather quickly. Just look at these plates – are they not the cutest? A scraggly street cat with a funny expression donning a hat, a broom that has seen better days, a few bats, a crow, a few friendly ghosts surrounded by a few mini spiders weaving their cob webs. Nothing scary here, just whimsy.
I found a spider web tablecloth at Goodwill for two dollars a few weeks ago and set it over our glass dining room table. You can clearly see the cob web design as the light comes through the glass. I set black chargers, the dinner and dessert plates with the napkin and silverware off to the left as I didn’t want to cover up the comical cat. I love the cat’s expression on both plates: on the dessert plate she’s smiling and hopeful, but on the dinner plate she looks like she got caught in the rain.
For the centerpiece I used a footed wooden board and layered with petrified maple leaves and a little garland. A cute Mid-Century Modern cat, a broom and a few crows flank the orange ceramic pumpkin with a black grapevine witch’s hat in the center. A few black candleholders and pumpkin candles round out the centerpiece. I added two bat rings to the broom since I didn’t have any bats I could hang from the chandelier.
The bar cart has a skull bust, a few poison bottles and some burnt fall flowers with green sprigs. The China cabinet has green and orange pumpkins plus a few mini ghosts scattered about. In the center opening, you can see two books with a skull sitting on them. This was left over from the last tablescape and I should have swapped them out for pumpkins, but alas, I did not.
I hope you find this tablescape as fun and whimsical as I do. Let me know what you think?
