Much like grenadine, this hibiscus simple syrup adds gorgeous color to any drink plus floral notes! Perfect for creating cocktails and summertime refreshing drinks – add it to any alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage for added color and flavor. I used some in my Paloma cocktail.
HERE’S HOW I MADE IT
In a small sauce pan, combine 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, 2 hibiscus tea bags and a lemon peel. Stir and bring to a boil over medium heat for five minutes. Turn heat off and allow the liquid to steep and come to room temperature. Discard tea bags and lemon peel before transferring to a container. Yields about 1 1/3 cups and syrup keeps well for two weeks in the refrigerator.
Use another hibiscus tea bag with 3 teaspoons of Diamond kosher salt for the perfect rim!
