This Classic Cranberry Sauce is my go to recipe. It’s simple and uncomplicated is always best since you don’t want so many flavors competing over the Thanksgiving meal.
Place all the ingredients in a sauce pot, stir and cook over medium heat until the cranberries burst, thicken and become a luscious sweet/tart spreadable jam of sorts.
I love to spread this sauce or jam on sandwiches for that pop of tart freshness the cranberries bring. It’s also delicious with a slice of pumpkin pie!
Classic Cranberry Sauce
A classic and simple three ingredient cranberry sauce you can make at home during Thanksgiving.
Ingredients
- 1 bag fresh cranberries
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 cup granulated sugar
Instructions
-
Place all the ingredients in a sauce pot, stir and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. As the cranberries pop, press them against the side of the pot as they cook.
-
Taste. If the cranberries are too tart, add an extra teaspoon of sugar at a time until it's your desired sweetness. If they are just right, remove from heat and allow to cool at room temperature.
-
Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Keeps in the refrigerator for about 10 days, if properly stored.
