This was a fun and easy project to do in about 30 minutes. They are so versatile and add such a festive pop anywhere. You can use them in cocktails, as decorations, skewer appetizers, on a charcuterie board just to name a few. Great project to involve the kids.
SUPPLIES
Sanding paper – at a local hardware store
Rock candy stir sticks – from a craft store or Amazon
Glue gun and glue sticks – from craft store
mini bottle brush trees – best if they are about an inch tall (mine are slightly larger, but I wanted the pink colors)
HERE’S HOW I MADE THEM
Sand a third of the top off the stir stick by applying even pressure as you slide it back and forth over sand paper (not shown). Sand all the sticks you need at once. While you’re sanding, heat your glue gun.
When your sticks have been sanded, place a small dollop of hot glue on the flat surface and set the mini bottle brush tree. If working with small children, you will want to work the glue gun and supervise them as they place the bottle bush tree on the stick. The glue dries quickly.
I purchased my mini bottle brush trees at Hobby Lobby from their My Little Christmas collection.
I hope you enjoy this little simple project. It was so much fun to make and took very little effort and time. Enjoy!
