This spiced rum sauce is amazing. It’s an elevated caramel sauce with notes of vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. I love serving it with my bread pudding, over ice cream, in crepes and brownie sundaes! It’s a great caramel sauce.
Whisk butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until smooth and blended.
Add cream, cinnamon and rum and bring to a simmer. Continue whisking while the sauce simmers and reduces to 1 1/2 cups – about 5 minutes.
Note: when you add the cream and rum, the sauce bubbles up very fast. Keep whisking so it doesn’t bubble over.

- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons spiced rum
- 3/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
