What to make on game day…hmmm. Not just any game day, thee game day – the Super Bowl! I could have made a full Cuban menu since the host city was Miami, but that’s just Sunday dinner at home. I wanted something more representative of the cities that were being represented. In the simplest of terms, nothing says Kansas City like BBQ or San Francisco like seafood on the wharf! Add in traditional game day food like chicken wings, dips and beer to let it all go down easy and voila my menu was created.
Here’s my mash-up:
Kansas City Style Pulled Pork Sliders – pork cooked long and slow with an authentic rub made these absolutely perfect!
Clam Chowder Soup – soup is just comfort food at its best. This clam chowder hits all the flavor notes. You would think you’re at the wharf.
Asian Sticky Chicken Wings – deliciously sticky baked wings coated in a home made Asian garlicky sauce.
Easy White Bean Dip – a great dip on any table – creamy white beans pulverized to perfection with herbs and spices.
Store bought Smoked Fish Dip served with carrots, celery, saltines and jalapeƱo slices.
Assorted beers and soft drinks.
My decorations were simple. I bought a football field themed disposable table cloth at a dollar store along with a few mini foam footballs along with some plates, napkins and cups at Walmart. Served everything buffet style on white ceramic serving dishes for easy grazing. The soups was in the kitchen keeping warm in the Dutch Oven pot.
